There is not a fleet of boats, just the one that has been meticulously maintained since 1991. The Mighty Mako is a custom built 25 foot center console designed with fishing in mind. It has more square foot fishing space than many boats twice it’s size. This space allows for maximum comfort while it’s stability and low freeboard allows for easier management of large game fish.
With a beam of 9 feet and a draft of 10 inches, and 360 degree of fishability, the Mighty Mako has all the benefits of a backwater flats boat without sacrificing comfort, spaciousness, and safety.
The Mighty Mako is not the fastest, biggest or most luxurious boat on the islands surrounding waters. It doesn’t have an air-conditioned saloon with a microwave or flat screen TV. There is no stereo, X-box or Nintendo on board. This fishing boat was designed with ONE thing in mind… FISHABILITY!
Calm and Comfortable Inshore Water… Beautiful Scenery… Lite Tackle… Large Fish

I’m pleased to announce that after a lovely 4-year-stint at the Shelter Cove Marina, the Mighty Mako has returned to the Palmetto Bay Marina! In 2016 Hurricane Matthew forced us to move our operation due to the destruction of the docks. Having fished out of the same slip at the Palmetto Bay Marina since 1991, the Mighty Mako and I are thrilled to be back home at the oldest marina in Hilton Head with the newest docks! Palmetto Bay is a special place; a destination tucked away with many stories to tell. First established in 1958, Palmetto Bay Marina is one of Hilton Head’s oldest working marinas. Since then, many things have changed, but her island spirit has remained the same. The Mako is conveniently located on the south-end of the island at the base of the Cross Island Expressway Bridge and on the edge of Broad Creek; near the Black Marlin Hurricane Bar and the Carolina Crab Company.
The Charter/Ship store provides everything one would need before embarking upon an outdoor adventure. Clean restroom, 1st class facilities that offer, soda, bottled water, beer, ice, and an assortment of snacks. There is top of the line fishing apparel such as sunglasses, boat shoes, sandals, hats, and related gear. The staff is friendly, helpful, and ready to assist and answer any and all questions. The marina is within 10 minutes of most hotels and resorts. There is plenty of convenient parking with no gate fees, hassles or vehicle restrictions.
