ABOUT THE MIGHTY MAKO

FISHABILITY

There is not a fleet of boats, just the one that has been meticulously maintained since 1991. The Mighty Mako is a custom-built 25-foot center console designed with fishing in mind. It has more square foot fishing space than many boats twice its size. This space allows for maximum comfort, while its stability and low freeboard allow for easier management of large game fish.

With a beam of 9 feet and a draft of 10 inches, plus 360 degrees of fishability, the Mighty Mako has all the benefits of a backwater flats boat without sacrificing comfort, spaciousness, and safety.

The Mighty Mako is not the fastest, biggest, or most luxurious boat on the island’s surrounding waters. It doesn’t have an air-conditioned saloon with a microwave or flat-screen TV. There is no stereo, Xbox, or Nintendo on board. This fishing boat was designed with ONE thing in mind… FISHABILITY!

ABOUT CAPTAIN DAVE

Captain Dave Fleming has 30 years of guiding experience and has called the island his home for the past 40 years. Thousands of anglers have enjoyed his southern charm and fishing prowess. During this period, he has seen many kids develop into fine adults and exceptional anglers. The cycle continues for many of them who are now parents themselves and are introducing their young children to the experiences they had as kids fishing aboard the Mighty Mako. Very cool indeed. And while Captain Dave is serious about each and every trip, he tries to never take himself too seriously.

A professional with a friendly, laid back style, Captain Dave ensures your comfort, safety, and of course, great fishing when you come aboard the Mighty Mako!

Captain Dave holds no state or world records, nor does he have any sponsors or endorsements from any boat manufactures or fishing companies. However, his resume does include thousands of satisfied and appreciative vacationing anglers.

PALMETTO BAY MARINA

The Mighty Mako fishes out of Palmetto Bay Marina. Tucked away on the southern tip of Hilton Head, Palmetto Bay was the 1st Marina built on the island back in 1958 and it is home to the island’s “original” fishing fleet. Fast forward half a century, the marina now boasts the only working boatyard on the island, as well as several other amenities & attractions. Such as dining, shopping & water sport activities for locals and vacationers alike. Conveniently located near the island’s premier hotels and resorts; it is only minutes away from anywhere on the island. Ample parking, no gate fees, and no hassles.  If you are looking for the best breakfast joint on the island, start your day off at the Sunrise Café. Hands down the best breakfast on the island with the friendliest staff! For lunch, the Carolina Crab Company is a can’t-miss! Crab legs, crab cakes, she-crab soup… you get the idea. When the sun starts to go down, head-on-over to the island’s original Hurricane Bar, established in 1973. Enjoy live entertainment, a bucket of your favorite cold beers, & a choice of delicious frozen libations, all while enjoying the water views of broad creek. Just feet away is The Black Marlin which boasts an extensive menu and some of the freshest seafood anywhere on the island. Let’s go wet a line and spend the day at the Bay!
