Fishing Reports

December 18th

December 18th The few weeks since Thanksgiving was fairly active with plenty of small Sharks and bull Reds. The Sharks however have thankfully headed south following the warmer water as our area waters have finally cooled off a bit. In my nearly 3 decades of fishing, I have never caught Sharks into late November, much less December. It was the Summer that never would end and gave us historic warm water temps. The bull Reds are starting to move offshore now, and the last couple of trips to the river mouths and inshore sandbars have only provided a few fish each trip. It might be time to focus more on the smaller Redfish and Trout that are in the backwaters and marsh. Oh well, Summer has finally come to an end and water temps are back to normal for this…

September 29th

Saturday Sep 29th The week started off pretty good with lots of assorted baitfish in our waters. Mullet, finger mullet, menhaden that were everywhere and getting chomped on by pods of Dolphins and schools of Sharks. With water temps still over 80degrees, it may just be a little while longer. A couple of days ago, I noticed some…

August 12th

Sunday August 12th Took the day off after a busy and really entertaining week of fishing. (or should I say Sharking) The shrimp Trawlers that have been absent most of the Summer due to a lack of shrimp, were out in full force last week and we took advantage of the presence. Lots of fun top water action on Blacktips as well as a few monster Bull Sharks. 1 Broken reel, 2 snapped rods, countless sore muscles and lots of entertaining moments later, I can say that it was truly one of the best weeks of the Summer as far as action goes. We are experiencing some very extreme tides over the next several days and that may negatively affect things, but we will just have to see. By mid week, the tides start to come back to normal and…
