Saturday Sept. 19th

This past week started off with hit and miss rain showers and mostly cloudy skies and pretty much stayed that way thru out the week. I stayed inshore all week because of a storm offshore. We managed to fish several trips between the weather delays and actually had pretty good success. On a couple of those trips we managed a several nice Bull Reds in excess of 20lbs as well as some decent size Sharks over 40lbs. We caught the Reds and Sharks by using Croaker and Whiting that we had caught earlier on some sponge bob spinning tackle that we like to use for the 1-5pounders  We had a couple of Large species come along and take the Shrimp, as well as the line, completely off the ultra-lite gear we were using. These Sharks and Redfish don’t get to be the size they are by passing up a Shrimp cocktail that’s right in front of em. Oh well, that’s another reason we always have backup reels and line on the boat. Our last trip of the week was tough. Wind and very muddy water didn’t help things, but we gave it a go and that’s all I got to say about that one.  Oh well, 2 out of 3 ain’t bad.  Didn’t take the boat out the last couple of days, but did take the surfboard out and had a blast. The water has cooled off maybe 6 to 7 degrees in the past week, and that is really gonna help to jump start the Bull Red onslaught which kicks into gear by the start of next month. Looks like the storm that’s been in our vicinity much of the week will be heading away from us over the coming days and I will be out fishing early tomorrow with a longtime client and friend. Next report by the end of the week.
